Here’s how to make it:


  • Grate 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger root.

  • Boil it in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes.

  • Strain the tea and let it cool slightly.

  • Add 1 tablespoon of honey and sip slowly.


This remedy not only warms your body but also helps thin mucus, providing relief when you need it most.


2. Turmeric Milk


Turmeric, a staple an Ayurvedic staple, as it has potent anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Curcumin, the key compound in turmeric, can help combat infections and soothe respiratory irritation.


To prepare turmeric milk:


  • Heat 1 cup of milk (plant-based).

  • Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder.

  • Add honey, it really does help.

3. Steam Inhalation with Eucalyptus Oil

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a large bowl.

  • Add 2-3 drops of eucalyptus oil.

  • Drape a towel over your head, lean over the bowl, and inhale the steam for about 10 minutes.

4. Warm Salt Water Turmeric Gargle

  • Mix 1/2 teaspoon of salt in 1 glass of warm water.

  • Add a pinch or more of ground turmeric .

  • Gargle for 30 seconds, then spit it out.

5. Herbal Infusion


Herbs like thyme, licorice root (if no high blood pressure), and peppermint are well-known for their soothing effects on the throat and respiratory tract.


To prepare an herbal infusion:


  • Combine equal parts of dried thyme, licorice root (if not high blood pressure), and peppermint.

  • Steep 1 teaspoon of this mix in 1 cup of boiling water for 10 minutes.

  • Strain and add honey.

6. Nasal Irrigation


Nasal irrigation is a highly effective way to clear congestion. Using a saline solution, you can rinse your nasal passages, easing blockages and promoting better airflow.


You can utilize a neti pot or a saline nasal spray:


  • Mix 1/4 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm distilled water.

  • Lean over a sink, insert the solution into one nostril, and let it flow out the other.

  • It is absolutely necessary to ensure all the water has been released from the cavernous structure of the sinus cavities!


Though it may be a little unusual at first, many find this method greatly helps with congestion.


7. Spiced Warm Water


Drinking spiced warm water is an excellent strategy for tackling congestion naturally. Adding spices like cumin, coriander, fennel, and a little ginger to hot water offers multiple benefits.


To prepare this infusion:


  • Boil 2 cups of water.

  • Add 1 teaspoon each of cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and fennel seeds.

  • Vata can add a fresh gingerroot, and Kapha can use ginger powder.

  • Strain and enjoy this warming beverage throughout the day.
