Transform Your Health with this Ayurvedic Ginger Turmeric Detox Soup

Two key ingredients in our Ayurveda Ginger Carrot Turmeric Soup are ginger and turmeric. Both are digestive herbs that offer several benefits.

  • Ginger: Ginger ignites agni (digestive fire) supporting healthy digestion. Ginger can help expel mucus, reduce ama (toxins) stimulate metabolism, and kickstart sluggish digestion. Balancing for for Vata and Kapha, may aggravate Pitta so use it conservatively.

  • Turmeric: Astringent turmeric has antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is cleansing and supports healthy immune system function.

At Saumya Ayurveda, our philosophy is- be gentle and less is more. Using this Ayurveda Ginger Carrot Turmeric Detox Soup as food medicine, provides gentle Ayurvedic cleansing while supporting healthy digestion and elimination.

Tweak Our Ayurveda Recipe to Match Your Doshic Picture

Follow these easy modifications and provide yourself with a meal that becomes medicine by balancing the doshas.

How to customize this recipe to balance Vata

For spicing for Vata, the overall spiciness is important to help aid in digestion. Don't hold back as Vata types tend to have weaker digestion and this time of year lean towards being easily chilled with the hallmark cold hands and feet and constipation. Spices are digestive herbs that support healthy digestion, assimilation, and elimination. Garnish with roasted sesame seeds.

How to customize this recipe to balance Pitta

For Pitta, optimize this recipe by adding more coconut milk or coconut cream for its cooling qualities and sweet taste, both of which balance Pitta dosha. Garnish with coconut flakes.

How to customize this recipe to balance Kapha

Kapha needs to be invigorated, especially during Kapha season, as it may tend to be slow, sluggish, and dull. To customize the recipe for Kapha dosha--turn up the heat. Add more ginger and some nice hot chili and in general, add more volume of spice to support Kapha's slower digestive process.

How Do I Know If I Have a Dosha Imbalance?

Peruse these comprehensive and convenient lists of signs and symptoms of dosha imbalances.

As we are all comprised of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, there can be an imbalance in any of the doshas, or a combination of dosha imbalances. Read all three lists and see if anything looks familiar.

Instructions:

  • Heat the olive oil in a soup pot. Sauté until the vegetables soften, about 3-5 minutes.

  • Add the soup to a blender, and blend until smooth and creamy. (Or, use an immersion blender.)

“It is with great pleasure that I write this review! Working with Veena has remarkably changed my life – even in the places I was unaware that it demanded to be changed! Throughout the course of four months, Veena’s gentle and succinct approach allowed me to easily refine my routines into a more structured foundation that left me feeling more in graceful governance with myself – emotionally and physically.

Not only had she brought forth awareness in how I prepare/relate to the food I eat, but she also prescribed me wonderful herbs to help calm my anxiety, detox my liver, and heal the ugly night sweats I’ve been experiencing due to hormonal imbalances.

Lastly, her guided meditations are a great grounding force, and I have since continued to explore the euphoric benefits of Yoga Nidra.

Veena is a well of divine knowledge, and her humor and light will be eternally appreciated!”

--Rachel Monson, Wisconsin
